This course provides participants with the knowledge needed to safely and efficiently operate a swimming pool or spa. The
topics covered in this course include liability and risk management, regulations and standards, pool calculations, water
chemistry and testing, filtration and circulation systems, maintenance and management, spas, seasonal care,
troubleshooting, and disease and accident prevention.
Participants are required to bring a calculator to class. Participants successfully completing a written exam will
receive Certified Pool Operator (CPO) certification from the National Swimming Pool Foundation, recognized around the
world as the leading pool operator certifying organization.
This course satisfies regulatory requirements for pool operators. During this course, participants will:

always as easy as it appears. Clean water starts with facility design and ends with a properly maintained filtration and
circulation system. This session will discuss the various types of common filtration systems and how to maintain them.
Interactive discussions, models, and handouts will help participants understand the principles of filtration systems.

This course provides participants with the knowledge needed to safely and efficiently handle chemicals. The topics
covered in this course include regulations, chemical handling, chemical storage, Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS),
chemical spills, and emergency notification. This course satisfies the Occupational Safety & Health Administration (OSHA)
requirement for using hazardous materials.
During this course, participants will:

covered in this course include lifeguard professionalism, injury prevention, rescue skills, spinal injury management,
first aid, and CPR.

customer to keeping an employee. This course will help participants develop a positive attitude towards improving people

standards have become a major part of day-to-day operations. Compliance is not an option. This session provides an
overview of the major regulations and standards that apply to the industry and describes the steps for compliance.

Liability and risk management are the hottest issues in the aquatics world today. But they are often the most ignored by
aquatic facility owners and management. This session will address, in common language, how to identify, evaluate, and
control risks in aquatic facilities. Interactive discussions and handouts will help participants leave with useful
solutions to their issues and concerns.
During this course, participants will:

maintaining a safe aquatic environment.
- Understand how education is the foundation of an aquatic facility's risk
management plan.
- Understand the importance of communication in maintaining an aquatic

Maintaining proper water chemistry is not an option when operating an aquatic facility. The public demands clean, safe,
healthy water.
However, dealing with water chemistry does not have to be intimidating or overwhelming. This session discusses water
chemistry from the practical application perspective and includes an emphasis on calculations and problem solving. There
will be handouts available that provide easy shortcuts. Participants should bring a calculator and pen or pencil to the
session.
